What do the counselling sessions look like?

After the initial 20-minute consultation call, the first session tends to be more structured. This is what I often like to call the 'get to know you' session. In this session, I have a few things I have to run through at the beginning (like confidentiality/limitations). Then moving on to getting to know some basics about you and why you have come to counselling.

After the first session... generally speaking, the sessions are very free flow, unstructured, open, calm and completely at your pace. Allowing you to explore what you need/want to explore in a way that suits you (talking or being more creative).

There is no pressure in any sessions. They are your counselling sessions, so we move at your pace.

I'm feeling nervous about getting in contact or coming to my first session?

This is understandable and valid. You are getting in touch/meeting a new person for the first time it can be overwhelming and nerve-racking. However, this can begin to get easier after the first session/contact.

If you are browsing my website, it means you are curious and want to explore options for yourself. This is a brave first step.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make this process easier or if you need any adjustments.

Do i have to work creatively?

No. It is always your decision.

The creative tools are there for those who want to/prefer to express themselves in this way... if it is appropriate/beneficial within the counselling session.

Do i have to have weekly counselling sessions?

Weekly sessions do tend to be more beneficial and effective for clients.

However, fortnightly or monthly are available. Please enquire to find out more about this.
